Cuba Leading the World with its Energy Revolution
Commander in Chief Fidel Castro praised the efficient and quick installation of the country’s largest set of power generators in the eastern city of Holguin.
"The inauguration of this facility is one more step in the Energy Revolution underway in Cuba," said Fidel Castro as he made a call to those present to step up their energy consciousness efforts.
Before an auditory with the presence of Venezuelan and Bolivian students, Fidel explained how these students living with Cuban families are an example of solidarity. He noted that this exchange first took place in the central province of Cienfuegos, where many families received students studying medicine from other countries. "Those students", he said," are part of the thousands of youths being educated in Cuba to fight for the development of their own countries".
"We have built hundreds of schools and we are repairing several other facilities," he said, using as an example a large dormitory located in Cienfuegos that houses students from several nations.
"We know that the Third World lacks doctors as does some of developed capitalist countries. In the US, for instance, 40 million people don’t have access to healthcare. These services, which are generally private, largely contribute to the US GDP.
Referring to Cuban healthcare professionals working abroad, Fidel Castro said that some 30,000 are currently working in other countries, 20,000 of which are doctors.
"I wish it were not true that around the world there are hundreds of millions of people condemned to die a premature death and hundreds of millions of sick people who haven’t been diagnosed."
